Forty Years, in Yellow
Not every bespoke piece needs to be elaborate. Sometimes restraint says more.
For John and Diana, this was a way to honor 40 years of marriage with something lasting: a one-of-a-kind piece that could be worn now, then one day passed to their daughter. Diana’s style is minimal. Her engagement ring and wedding band are her staples, so the goal was not to overwhelm her everyday jewelry, but to create something rare enough to mark the occasion.
We started with a 0.59 ct Fancy Intense Yellow pear diamond, a color not often seen in traditional fine jewelry. Yellow diamonds carry a distinct warmth and presence, vivid without feeling loud. In Korean color symbolism, yellow is also tied to the center and the earth within obangsaek, the traditional five-color spectrum, making it a fitting color for grounding, harmony, and continuity.
The setting was kept intentional: a pendant with delicate prongs and a protective bezel “V” at the top to guard the point of the pear. Hidden within the setting are two infinity symbols, a detail that doesn’t announce itself right away but holds deeper meaning.
