A Mochi Gummy Pendant For Sundae School Founder Dae

Some commissions begin with a brief. This one began with a piece already beloved.

The team at Sundae School came to me with a request: a gift for their founder, Dae—something that felt unmistakably theirs. Sundae School has always been one of those quiet anchors in the AAPI brand world: thoughtful, irreverent, and deeply its own. The starting point was their signature mochi gummy: soft, playful, and instantly recognizable. Our job was to translate that familiar form into something lasting. We sculpted the gummy as a 3D metal pendant, preserving its rounded silhouette and gentle heft so it still reads like the original at a glance. Then we added the detail that made it personal: Dae’s name built into the back—hidden unless you know to look. A tiny gummy, made permanent.
