Sol’s Framed Victorian Korean Radiant Pendant

This pendant began as a reinterpretation of the past.

Sol wanted to start with a 1.01 ct E–VVS2 radiant-cut diamond: an excellent-grade center stone with enough brilliance to stand on its own. The intention was to keep the diamond as the focal point, then build a setting around it that would support its presence rather than compete with it.

Because the diamond itself felt like a work of art, Sol was drawn to the language of Victorian art frames: ornate, dimensional, and sculptural, with details that felt architectural rather than purely decorative.

We explored two design directions. The first was a more literal interpretation of a Victorian frame, with scrollwork and floral flourishes surrounding the stone. The second blended that antique romanticism with Korean hanok structure, using layered linear borders and lattice-like geometric corner details.

The final direction brought those references together. The bezel-set radiant diamond sits at the center like a framed heirloom, held within a structure that balances clean cultural architecture with the ornamentation of another era. An homage to Sol’s Korean roots, and to an artistic style he felt connected to. A diamond framed by history, memory, and form.

A closer look at the finished pendant: a 1.01 ct E–VVS2 radiant diamond framed in sculptural gold, balancing antique ornamentation with Korean architectural structure.

The starting point: a mood board built around Sol’s references of ornate Victorian art frames.
