OUR STORY

What began as another phone call in a 10 year friendship inspired nunchi. Driven by the desire to create jewelry and accessories rooted in ethical sourcing, sustainability, and diverse representation, Jane and Michelle started a brand whose identity is centered on being socially and environmentally conscious. Born in the midst of the pandemic, nunchi began by purchasing unused jewelry from struggling local small businesses in NYC and up-cycled these pieces to body-inclusive and multi-functional accessories. Today, it is much more.

It is about the businesses we support, the communities we uplift through our actions, and the pursuit of a just and fair society. From its launch, nunchi has been dedicated to the quality of our products and creating a culture of equity surrounding them. We partner with suppliers and businesses who align with our brand values and work together on social and environmental practices. It also means access to the finer things in life without the traditional exclusionary retail markup. nunchi starts with awareness and continues with transparency, equitable labor practices, and safe working conditions. Ensuring fairness from the ground floor up only furthers our mission for social justice and #retail activism.
